Privacy Policy

1. Who runs this site

Result Updates is a personal website published at "resultsupdatess.com" and written by one person. This policy explains what happens to any information collected when you visit, and it applies to every page and post on the site.

If you have a question about anything here, or you would like information about you removed, you can write to contactvikas@resultsupdatess.com and I will deal with it myself.

2. What information is collected

Information you choose to give

Nothing on this site requires you to identify yourself in order to read it. You only give me information if you decide to do one of the following.

• Send a message through the contact form, which asks for your name, your email address and your message
• Sign up for the free checklist, which asks for your email address
• Leave a comment on an article, which records your name, your email address, your comment, and your IP address

Information collected automatically

Like almost every website, this one records some technical information whenever a page loads. That includes the pages you looked at, roughly how long you stayed, the country you connected from, the type of device and browser you used, and the website that sent you here if there was one. None of that identifies you by name.

3. Cookies

Cookies are small text files that a website leaves on your device so it can recognise it later. This site uses them in three ways: to keep the site working properly, to count visitors through Google Analytics, and to allow Google and its partners to choose which adverts you see.

You can delete cookies or block them entirely through your browser settings, and the site will still work, although some adverts may become less relevant to you.

4. Advertising and Google AdSense

This site uses Google AdSense to display adverts, and the money those adverts earn is what keeps the site free to read.

• Google, as a third party vendor, uses cookies to serve adverts on this site
• Google's use of advertising cookies allows it and its partners to serve adverts to you based on your visit to this site and to other sites on the internet
• You can turn off personalised advertising at any time by visiting Google Ads Settings
• You can opt out of personalised advertising from many other vendors at aboutads.info

Third party advertising companies other than Google may also place cookies through the AdSense network. I do not control those companies and cannot see the information they gather, but the opt out links above cover most of them.

If you are visiting from the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you will be asked for your consent before any advertising or analytics cookies are set, and you can change or withdraw that choice at any time.

5. Google Analytics

Google Analytics tells me how many people read the site and which guides are most useful, which is how I decide what to write next. It reports totals and patterns rather than individuals, and I never see your name or your email address through it.

If you would rather not be counted at all, Google publishes a browser add-on that blocks it completely at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

6. Forms and email

When you send a message through the contact form, it arrives in my inbox and stays there. I use it to reply to you and for nothing else.

When you sign up for the free checklist, your email address is stored by the email service I use to send it, and I may occasionally write to you about new guides. Every one of those emails contains an unsubscribe link, and clicking it removes you immediately and permanently. Your address is never sold, rented, swapped or handed to anybody else.

7. Comments

When you leave a comment, WordPress stores the comment itself along with your name, your email address, your IP address and your browser details. This helps with spam detection. Your name and comment are shown publicly. Your email address and IP address are not.

An anonymised string created from your email address may be sent to the Gravatar service to check whether you have a profile picture. Gravatar's own privacy policy covers what happens after that.

8. How long information is kept

• Contact form messages stay in my inbox until I clear them out, usually within a year
• Email signups stay until you unsubscribe or ask me to delete them
• Comments and their details stay indefinitely so that follow up replies make sense, unless you ask for removal
• Analytics data is kept by Google according to its own retention settings

9. Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask me what information I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it. If you are in India, the Digital Personal Data Protection Act gives you these rights. If you are in Europe or the United Kingdom, the General Data Protection Regulation does the same, and adds the right to object to processing and to receive a copy of your data.

In practice, all of this comes down to sending me an email. I am one person and I will do it myself, normally within a few days.

10. Children

This site is written for people who run or build small business websites, and it is not aimed at children. I do not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of thirteen. If you believe a child has sent information through this site, write to me and I will delete it.

11. Links to other websites

Guides here sometimes link to other websites, and adverts on this site link to places I have no control over. Once you click away, this policy no longer applies. I would encourage you to read the privacy policy of any site you land on, since each one handles your information differently.

12. Changes to this policy

If the way this site works changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top will tell you when that last happened. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated version.

13. Contact

Questions, corrections, or a request to remove your information all go to the same place: contactvikas@resultsupdatess.com. You can also use the contact form, although email is faster for anything to do with privacy.
